What officers are up for re-election?
Top 7 officers: President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Equity & Inclusion Officer, Executive Director). This includes positions won by acclimation in May at the 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention.
Will the re-election be in person?
No. The nominations will be done via Zoom on October 25th starting at 10am and then BallotPoint Election Services will send registered delegates an email and text with directions on how to vote as well as provide a call in option.
Who is allowed to vote in the re-election?
Elected delegates that attended the 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention will be afforded the opportunity to vote in this re-election*
I was an elected delegate but I did not attend the May 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention, do I get to vote?
No, only those who were elected as delegates and registered in person at the 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention in May can vote in this re-election
My local had 3 elected delegates from our delegation that attended the May 2025 Convention but 1 of them is no longer a member. Does our alternate delegate become eligible to vote as part of the delegation?
No, your delegation will split the local's votes between the remaining credentialed delegates who attended the 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention

Check your local's consitution to see if the President is an automatic delegate or any other elected officer, otherwise your local may elect a new delegate if they wish to particiate in this election
Do registered delegates have to attend the virtual re-election or can they just vote?
We need to have a quorum on Zoom before the nominations so we encourage registered delegates to log into the Zoom. A quorum for the transaction for business shall consist of not fewer than one-third of the delegates seated in the convention. All registered delegates will get an email and text from BallotPoint Election Services with directions on how to vote after the nominations whether they attend the zoom or not
What happens if one of our local's registered delegates does not vote?
Their votes will be lost. Their votes will NOT be distributed to the other registered delegates
Can the candidates have observers?
Yes, we will provide a separate Zoom room on 10/25/25 for BallotPoint Election Services and observers.
How long will the vote be open?
90 minutes. Registered delegates will receive reminders prior to 10/25/25 as well as mulitple reminders via text and email the day of the re-election
Can a local bloc vote?
Yes, our convention rules allow bloc voting. Every registered delegate in the delegation must sign a form authorizing the chair of the delegation to block vote. The form is due by 5pm on Friday, October 17th, 2025.
If a local did not participate at all (no delegate, no proxy) in the May 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention, can they participate in the re-election?
No
When will we have the results?
Immediately following the election BallotPoint Election Services will provide the election results and we can share with any members still on the zoom and we will also email and text the results.
What if I'm having trouble voting?
Registered delegates can call the Member Services Center the day of the re-election. Represetatives from BallotPoint Election Services will be in the Salem office along with our Council staff to field the calls.
Can we do other business at the re-election?
The order is only to re-run the nominations and elections. No other business will be taking place that day.
Do proxy voters still carry the same votes from the Locals that they carried votes for at the May 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention, do I vote?
Yes
What if the proxy voter for my local is no longer a member?
The local that proxied can proxy to another delegate.
Is the voting strength of each local the same from the May 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention?
Yes, this is a re-election, we will use the same voting strength as the May 2025 Oregon AFSCME Biennial Convention per Article IV of the Council 75 Constitution. We will send the local's voting strengths on Friday, October 24th to all registered delegates
Do we need a parlimentarian?
No, we are not conducting any business other than nominations and the re-election
What committees will be active in this re-election?
The election committee will lead the nominations and we'll convene the credentials committee if new delegates are elected.
